Concern Summer Raffle: “Last year, I won the jackpot!”
Last September, Tony Kelly from Tuam, Co. Galway received a surprising phone call, and the voice on the other end had some very good news – Tony had won €4,000 in the Concern Summer Raffle. This year, it could be you!
“I’d never won anything in a raffle before!”
Last summer, Tony Kelly from Tuam bought a book of raffle tickets to support Concern’s work overseas. As a long-standing supporter, this was nothing unusual – he regularly donates to our campaigns and he didn’t think any more of it. Then, after the big draw in the Concern offices in September, Tony learnt that he was among the eight cash prize winners – and he had hit the €4,000 jackpot!
Tony tells us:
I’ve been a monthly donor to Concern for a good few years and I try to support emergency appeals too. I’ve never won anything in a raffle before so I was hugely surprised when I actually won the jackpot!"
“I know Concern is doing good work”
Tony put his winnings into his savings and treated himself to a golfing holiday in Portugal. He also generously re-donated some winnings to Concern. He says he’ll definitely be entering the raffle again this year, and not just because he’s in with a chance to win. Tony says:
As a regular donor, I get the Concern newsletters and I follow what’s happening. I’m keen to support because this is an Irish charity that I know is doing good work.
Tony is among a dedicated band of ticket sellers and buyers across the country who get involved in the Concern Summer Raffle each year to help us raise vital funds for some of the world’s most vulnerable communities. Last year, they raised an incredible €235,000 for the people of South Sudan. This year, the proceeds will again go to support our work in South Sudan and other countries in east Africa where a shocking hunger crisis has hit.

If you take part in our raffle, not only are you supporting these vulnerable communities, you are also in with a chance to win. Apart from the €4,000 jackpot, we have cash prizes of €2,000, €500 and €100 to give away. Some special prizes, such as a luxury hamper and a hotel stay, are also set aside for our wonderful tickets sellers!
