Concern Worldwide is currently implementing a flood resilience project in Tana River County, Kenya. It is funded by the Zurich Foundation as part of the Zurich Climate Resilience Alliance (ZCRA) project (formerly known as the Zurich Flood Resilience Alliance).

The ZCRA is a multi-sectoral partnership focusing on finding practical ways to help communities in developed and developing countries strengthen their resilience to flood risks.

One of the communities faced with this risk is Tana River County in Kenya.

In previous flooding disasters. as revealed by the Flood Resilience Measurement for Communities (FRMC), the government had mainly focused on flood response rather than prevention. Communities lacked knowledge on how to advocate for resources, were unaware of their rights, and did not know how to access or influence government processes.

This solutions brief shares practical and replicable local knowledge of Concern's approach to improving community resilience by establishing community advocacy champions.
