Responding to emergencies
Pakistan is highly vulnerable to natural disasters because of its climate and geography. So, we dedicate a lot of our time to ensuring that we can respond quickly to emergencies when they happen. Having a team of experts on hand who are trained to work effectively in emergency situations is critical to our work.
Concern’s experience in identifying and assessing local charity partners was a key factor in securing the “Responding to Pakistan’s Internally Displaced” (RAPID) umbrella grant. This grant is funded by the office of US foreign disaster assistance (OFDA). This means we’ll be responsible for overseeing the disbursement of approximately 18 million US dollars in grants. This money will be distributed to organisations providing humanitarian assistance to people who have been forced to leave their homes due to flooding.
Pakistan floods
Nothing in living memory compares to the floods that hit Pakistan in July 2010. These floods affected more than 20 million people (one tenth of Pakistan's population), killing more than 1,700 people and damaging at least 1.8 million homes.

Alliance2015
Our current joint project is the sixth ECHO-funded emergency relief programme since the 2010 floods. Concern and our Alliance2015 partners are delivering shelter, food and water, sanitation and hygiene assistance to communities still affected by the 2012 floods.
