Debates Student Consent form

Please read carefully and complete all sections as this is vital to participation in the Concern debates programme. Unfortunately, we cannot allow students to participate in the debates programme without a properly signed consent form.

Dear parent/guardian,

This form is to be signed by the parent/guardian of a child under 18 and the student taking part in Concern's Debates Programme.

This year, students participating in the programme will be involved in debates both online and if they progress beyond the knock-out stages, in person.

  • During the League Phase, Concern will share a video of a recorded debate with volunteer adjudicators to mark via secure and private sharing on Concern's platform https://debates.concern.net
  • Each debate is recorded by both schools over an online conferencing service such as Zoom.
  • Concern and schools record the debates to ensure a backup is available if a technical issue arises. Concern deletes recordings from its platform once it is no longer for the purposes of the debates and requests schools to do the same.
  • Should your child's team progress beyond the Knock Out stages, debates will be held in person in venues around the island of Ireland organised by Concern and/or the school
  • At these events, photos may be taken

Throughout the programme photographs, images, screenshots or video footage of the debates and debater (programme participants) may be shared to celebrate the students and schools who take part in the programme as well as promotional reasons. This includes but is not limited to Concern website, social media channels, press releases/media and other promotional materials and promotional materials

These videos and images will be the child's personal data. Concern processes this personal data for the specific purposes described here and based on the child's and parent's/guardian's consent which can be withdrawn at any time without affecting Concern's use prior to withdrawal.

Where permitted, Concern stores and uses images and videos to promote its work for three years after which time it is archived by the organisation.
