Talks and workshops

Would your school like to learn more about development issues? Let us know and we will send one of our school speakers to visit you.

Promoting the Sustainable Development Goals

School speaker

Our school officer will visit your school to run interactive development education workshops and talks from both primary (fourth to sixth class) and secondary students. These talks and workshops introduce students to global issues in a simple and understandable way. Your class could be exploring the impact of conflict on the lives of people, looking at how hunger and consumption are linked or examining reasons why people live in extreme poverty.

Topics we can discuss include:

  • World Hunger
  • Conflict and its impact on communities
  • Gender Equality
  • Climate Justice
  • Poverty
  • Primary debating skills

If you’re interested in secondary debating workshops, we run four debates days at the start of the school year to introduce students to skills for debating. Contact a member of the debates team to sign up your students or to find out more.

The Concern Fast

Every year, we ask supporters to fast for 24 hours to raise money for the world’s poorest people. It’s a brilliant opportunity for Irish schools to introduce students to global issues whilst also providing them with the chance to get creative with their fundraising.
