Want to take part in the Concern Fast but not so keen on going without food for 24 hours? Don’t worry! There are plenty of other ways to take part. Have a look at our top five alternatives to fasting and see what suits you best.
1. Social media blackout
What’s your social media obsession; is it Facebook? Twitter? Instagram? We’re all addicted to our phones these days which means giving them up for a day, a week, or even a whole month could be a real challenge. Why not take a digital detox and give your brain a rest.

2. The silent treatment
For those of you with the gift of the gab, it could be a real challenge giving up talking for 24 hours but also really fun way trying to find other ways to communicate to friends and family. Do we sense a game of charades coming along?

3. Kicking the habit
Make your family and friends very happy by using the Fast as an excuse to give up yer aul sins, or at least one of them anyway, for a day or a week, or maybe even longer! Could you give up alcohol or cigarettes for example?

4. Chocoholics anonymous
Is your Achilles’ heel actually your sweet tooth? Why not consider giving up chocolate, sweets or any other treats! You could even swap them for healthy nuts or dried fruit, granted not quite the same but it will still help fend off those cravings!

5. Coffee detox
Are you and your colleagues addicted to coffee? Do you have two, three, or more cups a day? Why not consider having a full coffee detox for the day and swap your usual morning-pick-me up for a healthy juice or sparkling water!
