This document is the final outcome of a research and monitoring project on Democratic Ownership conducted by Alliance2015 in preparation for the 4th High Level Forum on Aid Effectiveness, held in Busan in 2011.

In 2008 developing countries together with bilateral and multilateral donors endorsed the Accra Agenda for Action (AAA), building on the Paris Declaration (PD). In essence, countries committed themselves to eradicating poverty and promoting peace and prosperity by building stronger, more effective partnerships that enable developing countries to realise their development goals. This country brief assesses the progress made since Accra on the implementation of democratic ownership in Tanzania.
